Why Praxis Is Starting to Document Its Work

Praxis is a company that designs learning. Every day, decisions large and small accumulate in ELA classrooms, coaching sessions, and meetings where new services take shape. From the outside, people usually see only the result: a class delivered in its finished form or a system already in motion. The process behind that result often survives only in the memories of the people who were there.

Documentation Is How We Work

Good classes rarely happen by accident. Behind them are the questions considered before choosing a single prompt, the decisions made when a lesson plan breaks down in the classroom, and the reflection that keeps the same mistake from happening the next day. We thought it was a loss when scenes like these stayed only in someone’s memory and eventually disappeared.

Writing lets us compare, and comparison lets us improve. Documentation is less a tool for showcasing what went well than a tool for examining our work. That is why the posts here will focus less on polished success stories and more on what actually happened and the judgments we made at the time.

What We Will Publish Here

The blog is organized into four sections.

• How We Work: How we make decisions together, collaborate, and put our standards into practice
• Field Notes: Moments of learning observed in classrooms, at counseling desks, in coaching sessions, and across our campuses
• In the Making: How we build and improve programs, products, spaces, and operating systems
• Opinion: Interpretations and proposals about education and human growth

There is no separate group of designated writers. Instructors in the classroom, coordinators running our campuses, and people building our systems will write directly about the work they actually did.
